Description

one of three ex-split headcode EE machines in the WCRC fleet with long-stored ex-Loadhaul 37517 and operational 37518 Fort William / An Gearasdan

the same as fitted to the similarly modified Class 45/1 ‘Peaks’ and Class 47/4s

the loco exhibits a different configuration of features compared to former colleague 37405

Although intially outshopped with plated headcode still extant this was removed on its repaint into the 'fade' scheme in 2014 and the Accurascale model will correctly feature the smoothed off nose

ODA - EWS 'Distressed' Maroon/Yellow - Triple Pack G Northern Ireland Railways one of three ex-split headcodeIn the early 1980s, British Rail's shift to an air braked network created logistical challenges for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), whose depot sidings had sharp curves that could not accommodate newer, long wheelbase wagons. To solve this, 50 vacuum braked, 12 foot wheelbase "Pipe" wagons (built in 1961 under Lot 3335 to Diagram 1 462) were selected for conversion. Their drop sides were ideal for palletised loads. Modified at Shildon works in 1983
