FG & Company The Game of Merry Matches Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales Originally published during the golden age of parlor games (1880-1910), Merry Matches is an early version of Old Maid. The game consists of 31 beautifully illustrated cards depicting characters paired from nursery rhymes, fairy tales and other children's literature. Some are easily recognizable such as Cinderella, Simple Simon, Little Red Riding Hood, Old Mother Hubbard, Father Christmas and Little Bo Peep. While the more obscure characters include Blue Beard, Fatima, Goodie Two Shoes, Lucy Locket and Alice Lee. The object of the game is to make a many pairs as possible, with the match between Father Christmas and Mrs. Bond being the most valuable. The player that retains the unmatchable Mistress Mary at the end of the game is penalized. Reproduced from the original antique card game.
